AFC East Sees Major Wide Receiver Trades: Bills Acquire Amari Cooper, Jets Reunite Davante Adams with Aaron Rodgers

It’s a big day for the AFC East, as two major wide receiver trades have shaken up the division.

The Buffalo Bills have secured a deal with the Cleveland Browns for star wide receiver Amari Cooper. According to NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the Bills will send Cleveland a third-round pick in 2025 and a seventh-round pick in 2026 in exchange for Cooper. Buffalo will also receive a sixth-round pick in 2025 from the Browns as part of the deal. Both teams have confirmed the transaction.

“We’re grateful for Amari’s contributions during his time in Cleveland,” Browns General Manager Andrew Berry said in a statement. “He was a key player in our success over the past two-plus seasons and an integral part of our 2023 playoff run. We wish him the best in Buffalo.”

Pelissero further noted that the Browns had restructured Cooper’s contract in March, converting $18.79 million of his $20 million 2024 salary into a signing bonus. As a result, the Bills will only be responsible for $806,667 of Cooper’s salary, making the deal much more affordable.

This marks the third trade of Cooper’s career and comes just hours after another blockbuster move in the division. The New York Jets traded for wide receiver Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders, reuniting him with former teammate Aaron Rodgers. This bold move solidifies the Jets’ offensive power and brings Adams back with the quarterback who helped elevate his career.

With these trades, the AFC East is seeing a serious shakeup in its receiving talent, positioning both the Bills and Jets for potentially explosive offensive seasons ahead
